“Singing” Cake

This is a great cake to bake when small children are around because it actually makes a "singing" sound as it bakes.

The cake that sings to you and yours. This fun cake is known to whistle and sputter when you cook it and sometimes for a bit after you pull it out of the oven. A great bit of fun if you have young ones around.

Let’s cook some food that sings to you of its deliciousness.

Ingredients

  • 1 C Butter (Room Temperature)
  • 1 C Raisins
  • 2 C Brown Sugar
  • 2 tsp Cinnamon
  • 2 Squares Bitter Chocolate, Melted
  • 3 Eggs, Separated
  • 4 C All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 C Strawberry Jam
  • 1 C Chopped Pecans
  • 1 tsp Cloves (Chopped or Ground is best)
  • 2 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1 C Buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Beat the egg white until stiffened and set aside
  2. Cream the butter and brown sugar
  3. Stir in the egg yolks until well-blended
  4. Stir in melted chocolate
  5. Add raisins, cinnamon, cloves, and flour
  6. Stir until well-blended
  7. Add nuts and jam
  8. Continue to stir, stir, stir
  9. In a separate small bowl, mix baking powder and buttermilk
  10. Quickly stir this mixture into the cake mixture
  11. Fold in the stiffly beaten egg whites
  12. Quickly pour the mixture into a greased and floured Bundt pan
  13. Bake at 350* until the cake stops "singing" or about 45 minutes
